Update-alternatives Error No Alternatives For Usplash-artwork.so

It can also be, for example, opengeu-3.0.2 or any other weird code, as long as the last part is a number. WilliK: vga=791 would not work with me, but vga=773 did! apt-get will give you an error saying that the file is already contained in another package and therefore it cannot be overwritten. If I am stuck with it, I'd like to at least say thank you for all this beautiful art! This is the main brain of the deb.

John, I did run it before installing kubuntu-artwork-usplash but it didn't work. Joel Shea (jwshea) wrote on 2006-12-06: #68 Received the same error, after upgrading from dapper to edgy. (Using apt-get dist-upgrade) I can confirm the fix suggested in the previous comment worked. peter76 (pf-moll) wrote on 2006-09-16: #6 Same here on an iBook G3 900... Just if you can explain this then that would be great.

  1. The update to usplash (to 0.4-31) suggested that it would fix this error.
  2. Thank you.
  3. Just for kicks I also ran sudo updatedb.
  4. I find that a real Ubuntu install is much less buggy than a Wubi one.
  5. So for example lets say your CONTROL file looks like this when you created your deb file.
  6. Appreciate any help.
  7. Please try the #kubuntu or #ubuntu IRC channels (see InternetRelayChat) to get some help.

I would personally recommend you to make an actual dual-boot setup. But I would also like to know what the update-usplash-theme script is and how to use that as well. this contact form Richard Johnson (nixternal) wrote on 2006-10-05: #57 Don't know what I may be misunderstanding, as I have been working right along side this issue since day one. What can we do for providing more informations to find the bug ?

As you say, if people are working on it then it makes no difference - I just didn't want it to be missed. I am hoping they get to the bottom of the issue and find a fix for it. Nonetheless, I agree that it needs to be fixed regardless, because as you said, it could possibly be a turn off for new users. If it is only an artowork or a metapackage, you can put all in the Architecture field. Nothing to configure. I have a black screen with only informations about mounted partitions, and the resolution 1024*768 correct. Check This Out I am sure, if I am wrong on this issue, which wouldn't be the first time ;) one of the developers or someone with sufficient rights will change it.
