Follow-on question regarding implementing a timeout for use by urllib2. Any best practice recommendations?

  • I will try pushing this to ash-mozharness just in case errno 10035 happens again.
  • I think we should try catching socket.error as the last case.
  • Add this call "c.setblocking(1)" in the server file (server.py) before you append the new connection using "connections.append( [c, addr] )" -- like the following snippet.

Does this simply indicate the need for a time-out function, or could there be something else going on (error in my usage) I've overlooked? Follow-on question regarding implementing a timeout for use by urllib2. If it requires a time-out control, is there a way to implement that withoutusing separate threads?

I am guessing the simplest way to do this is via socket.setdefaulttimeout(), but I am not sure if this sets a global parameter, and if so, whether it might be reset Comment 15 Ed Morley (Away 28th Oct -> 6th Nov) [:emorley] 2013-07-30 08:37:35 PDT Thank you for picking this up! :-) Comment 16 Jason Yeo[:jyeo] 2013-08-01 10:20:15 PDT Seems to be Since your code is not handling it, your application runs into a problem.
